Kathryn H. Brown (née Jones), a second generation San Diegan, was born at Mercy Hospital and grew up in Point Loma. She graduated from Point Loma High School, as did her husband, Lee, and their two children. Following graduation from PLHS, she was one of the first song leaders for the newly formed San Diego Chargers team. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mathematics and English and a Master's Degree from San Diego State University followed by a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin.

Kathryn's earliest career was teaching first grade. After completing her Ph.D. in genetics, she helped to establish the Clinical Genetics program at Scripps Clinic where she was a Medical Geneticist for fifteen years. Her ability to use her education, patience and professional demeanor to assist patients in making important medical decisions proved to be both successful and emotionally rewarding.

The Jones family and its descendants have been involved with San Diego real estate investment, development and management for over 100 years. Kathryn's great-grandfather and grandfather began purchasing downtown properties in the 1880s and expanded their holdings over the following forty years to include land, buildings and homes in Mission Beach, Point Loma and Bankers Hill. In 1897, her grandfather and a colleague opened Arey Jones Book and Stationery store - the longest continuously operational business in San Diego history. Management and ownership of many of these properties was passed down through three generations of the family.

In 1975, Kathryn and her husband worked closely with SOHO (the Save Our Heritage Organization) in order to move and restore a home her grandfather had built for his bride in 1901. This project went on to be featured on several news programs, newspapers and even Sunset Magazine on two different occasions. Over the years, she and her family have owned or invested in homes in Point Loma, Julian, Mission Beach, Mission Hills, Fallbrook, Sun Valley, Idaho and most recently, a North County inland residence. Kathryn's knowledge of San Diego County is extensive and her ability to recognize a wise investment was nurtured by three generations of family acumen.

Kathryn has a long history of community involvement and volunteerism that has included working with polio survivors as a Candy Striper at Children's Hospital, establishing a preschool at Grossmont College, acting as chair of a community library board, calling bingo at an assisted care facility, donating blood regularly, working with environmental groups to clear trash from trails, and most recently, serving as a hospice volunteer. In her spare time she enjoys skiing, hiking, golf, sailing and spending time with her family. Her grandson, Aidan, is the light of her life and she is thrilled to finally be a "Grammy."

Kathryn's enjoyment of, and ability to work well with, all types of people is an artform she has formed over decades of work and volunteering. Her dedication to honesty, ingenuity and persistence has benefitted her, and those who have worked with her, immensely. These are the characteristics she has sought in agents over the years as a customer, and now that she is a real estate professional in her own right, recognizes a growing need for more agents with these same ideals. Thus ShoreView Real Estate, a boutique brokerage was born. Together, Kathryn and her broker son, Shelby Alan Brown, offer real estate buyers and sellers quality attention to their needs at a personal level. Without the constraints posed by franchise affiliation, they can spend the time necessary for clients to have a successful and rewarding experience.
